The Glasgow Open Championship
The origins of The Glasgow Open date back to the last decade of the nineteenth century when the Parks Department of the Corporation of the City of Glasgow purchased a handsome trophy in the form of a silver club to be played for annually. Initially the competition was played over the courses owned by the City in particular Alexandra Park but as the 20th century developed it came to be played at other venues such as Hayston, Erskine, Cawder and Cathkin Braes. In more recent times, and for many years, Pollok Golf Club, has hosted the event. Now Gailes Links joins the list of venues to enjoy the privilege of hosting the prestigious Glasgow Open Amateur Championship.
