JKCC2107aJonathan King wins today's Final -

Jonathan King Glasgow GC beats Steven Manning Pollok GC to win the 2017 Glasgow Champion of Championship 4 & 3 at Cawder GC earlier today.
Glasgow's 10 Club Champions play KO match play over the summer months with a September Final each Year.
A very good match played in the best of spirits with King taking an early lead at the 2nd hole with par golf then played until Manning found a bad lie in the bunker at the 9th. While he played a good recovery shot lost the hole to par. With birdies on the 10th and 12th holes saw King extend his lead and par golf from then the match finished at the 15th.

Thank to Cawder GC for hosting this final.

gameface17Glasgow falter in the Quarter Finals of the Mens Scottish Area Championships.
Losing narrowly out 3 -2 to the North East Area earlier today. Who then went on to win their semi final tie v Lanarkshire and then win Sunday's Final v Lothian. However the main topic of conversation in the clubhouse was Calum Fyfe's remarkable -18 under par for 36 holes on Friday over both courses at Newmachar GC with a new course record over the Hawkshill and equalling the Swalefield course record of 62. We have asked Scottish Golf to check their archives to establish if his 36 hole score has ever been bettered. Watch this space for their reply.

The Area Youths Championship took place at Ralston on Sunday 10th September. The course was well presented and withstood the rain well during the morning round. During the afternoon the rain became heavier and various greens flooded. With no prospect of the rain easing for several hours the second round had to be abandoned before any of the players had completed their round. The results of the first round determined the results of the competition. A measure of the trying nature of the conditions can be seen from the CSS being reduction only and even wth a CSS of 73 no player managed to score below his handicap. The individual winner was Stuart Cameron of Elderslie with a 73. The runner up on 74 was the 2015 winner was Dominic Dougan of Drumpellier. Full scores may be viewed here
The winning team was Renfrewshire A - Sean Burns, Stuart Cameron and Louis Oliver with a total of 148 for their two best scores out of three. The runners up were Lanarkshire A - Fraser Kane, Dominic Dougan and Graeme Greer with a score of 150.

GGU Skills Test-Sunday 20th August, Bishopbriggs Golf Club
Despite testing underfoot conditions, the sun shone as 21 Boys and Girls representing 9 out of our 10 Course Owning Clubs enjoyed a number of skills tests and fun competitions at our annual event held at Bishopbriggs. Congratulations to all who participated, especially Orla Rooney and Glen Crawford who took home the prizes in the Under 15 event and Charlie Greaves and Matthew Hughes who were joint winners of the Under 13’s section.
Many thanks to all the Parents for transport duties, Bishopbriggs for hosting the event and Alastair Forsyth, Gordon Jamison and Andrew Smith for their assistance on the day.
It was good to see some encouraging golfing talent on display and look forward to monitoring the progress of all the boys and girls who took part as we plan further coaching/fun events in the near future.
