  1. Glasgow Open Championship
  2. GGU Matchplay

The Glasgow Open was held on the 6th of Sept at a gloriously sunny Pollok GC. The outstanding weather was more than matched by the condition of the golf course which got great praise from the players. The top class field which included many county and international standard players enjoyed a great occasion. The GGU would like to thank Pollok GC and all their team for hosting the event and providing the superb backdrop for a hugely successful championship. The event was won by Callum Macaulay (pictured below) of Tulliallan Golf Club, with Gordon Sangster of Cathkin Braes the runner up. Brendan McKenna, of the host club and the reigning champion, put up a stout defence of his title and finished joint third. View the full scoresheet here. View the photo collection here

AM winner 20

Congratulations to Greg Brown of Cathkin Braes GC in winning his first GGU Matchplay Champions title. In a thrilling final against Alan Murphy of Ralston GC, the match swung back and forth, eventually going to the 20th hole where Greg had his 5th birdie in 10 holes to secure the title. The morning Semis also went into extra time, both matches going to the 19th hole, prompting GGU Hon President Gordon Cosh to comment on the very high standard of play. Despite the very difficult weather conditions during the event, the golf course was presented in top class condition by the staff at Sandyhills GC.  View the round by round result and full report here.
