The GGU Matchplay Championship took place at Cowglen Golf Club from Monday 20th May.
15 players qualified from the GGU Stokeplay Championship at Pollok on 12th May plus the current Matchplay champion contested the trophy.
Congratulations to defending champion Neil MacRae from Glasgow Golf Club who retains the Matchplay title after a 3&1 victory over Clark Nelson.
The morning semi- finals were delayed for a short time due to the persistent early rain. In the first game, Neil came from behind to win the last 2 holes against Bobby Gray of Haggs Castle, and secure a 1 up win.
In the other semi final, Clark had a 3&2 victory over his clubmate Daniel Forbes.
More rain in the afternoon made conditions tricky, but despite the weather, both Neil and Clark played some terrific golf.
Many thanks to all the players who played in the competition for making this another memorable Matchplay, and thanks to our hosts at Cowglen Golf Club who made us very welcome and presented the course in great condition.
So a clean sweep this year for Glasgow Golf Club with Clark Nelson winning the Strokeplay and Neil MacRae winning the Matchplay - well done boys !
