The Tennant Cup is the world's oldest Open Amateur Strokeplay Trophy, and is a 72 hole GGU and SG Order of Merit competition. This unique event is played over 2 courses, 36 holes at Gailes Links, and the final 36 holes at Glasgow Killermont. The competition is open to all players of SG affiliated clubs, with a current WHS handicap index of not more than 1. As of today (1st April) the key changes to the World Handicap Sysytem (WHS) are now in effect. On Friday last week, you were sent an email with links to a range of useful printable and digital resources, including presentation slides from our recent March forums.

Scottish Golf have just published their Golf Club communications for 4th March. This edition contains a number of items which include the March Forums, Golf Workforce and Facilities Survey, and a webinar on International Women's Day.

The Annual Dinner and Prizegiving was held at Sandyhills Golf Club on Friday 1st Match. The event was very well attended by all member clubs, and prizes and awards were presented by President Vic Skelton to our 2023 winners. Guest speaker for the evening was Willie Allan MBE.
Many thanks to all the staff at Sandyhills Golf Club for their excellent service and hospitality, and thanks to all who supported another very successful evening.

The Edward Trophy 36 hole Strokeplay competition takes place on Sunday 28th April at Gailes Links. Entry fee is £55.00 per player which includes lunch.
Entries will close on Friday 19th April and the start sheet will be published on the Gailes Links website on Monday 22nd April.
The competition is a GGU Order of Merit qualifier.

Looking ahead to the new playing season, it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with the key changes to the World Handicap System™ for 2024. There will be a change in the way we calculate Course Handicaps™ so that it will give golfers the number of strokes they need to play against Par (rather than the Course Rating™), making a golfer’s target score to ‘play to handicap’ more intuitive.
Currently, your Course Handicap™ is calculated by multiplying your Handicap Index® by the Slope Rating™ of the set of tees you are playing from, divided by 113. Read more
We promised to bring you information on our Regional Forums, which took place over two weeks in January. We engaged with 222 representatives from 125 clubs, and 23 Areas and Counties. If you weren't able to attend, there will be more opportunities to meet the Senior Team in the coming weeks, as we prepare for our AGM in May.
